Food industry achievement:
ECH 60 water/water exchanger, for St Michel

Our heat exchangers at the service of… all food lovers!
St Michel has long been one of the favorite brands of the French.
And this is certainly no coincidence: this independent French family business has been constantly innovating since its creation in 1905 and developing its business with ambition and enthusiasm.
The Guingamp site specializes in the production of french crepes… and that is where our EURODIFROID coolers come into play to guarantee optimal manufacturing quality.
Because temperature regulation of ingredients is crucial for good preparation: oil, butter, dough, chocolates… must be kept and circulated at very precise and specific temperatures depending on the product or the stage of the process.
The technical configuration
To achieve this good management, our exchangers use the primary water circuits available on the site (1 hot water circuit and 1 cold water circuit), to then cool or heat one or another tank, or one or another secondary network.
A real challenge in terms of thermal and hydraulic design, but also in terms of interfacing with the customer’s proprietary regulation.
Obviously, the agri-food context adds an additional level of requirement in order to guarantee impeccable hygiene throughout the chain (stainless steel materials, ease of maintenance, etc.) and in the vicinity of the cold unit.
Various EURODIFROID chillers are thus in operation in this factory, according to different capacities and configurations: ECH50, ECH150, ECH200, ECH2x30, ECH3+1…
For example: ECH 60 water/water heat exchanger
Here for example: an ECH 60, currently being assembled, specially designed for the chocolate handling process (conveying circuit to the workstation and temperature maintenance circuit for the tanks):
- 1 pipe circuit, for “hot” exchange
- 1 tank circuit, for “hot” or “cold” exchange
- 1 common hot circuit
- All controlled by a control module supplied and pre-programmed by the customer according to the needs of their overall system.
Probes, valves, stainless steel treatment, pressure gauges, connections… everything has been meticulously designed and assembled for one single objective: to enjoy St Michel delicacies for as long as possible!
