CLC 50 air conditioners for SPIE
From design to completion, our teams were able to meet a strategic and qualitative need, in defense sector.
In the defense industry, every detail counts, including the reliability of parachutes used in air operations.
The effectiveness of a parachute depends largely on its state of preservation: inadequate temperature conditions can compromise its structural integrity and performance, posing a risk to troops and their equipment.

The need?
Managing parachute storage conditions is crucial to ensuring their functionality when deployed in different theaters of operation.
Consulted by the SPIE France teams, to replace an existing solution, our teams developed an on-board removable air conditioning module, specifically adapted to the needs and dimensions of the container used for the storage and transport of military parachutes (power, size, robustness, regulation…).
The CLC 50 solution
These CLC 50s (here the first of a series of 15) allow the temperature inside the container to be controlled to ensure the operational reliability of the device and reduce the risk of accidents during missions.
Among the features of these shelter air conditioners, we can note:
- A custom-designed chassis allows for easy removal of the unit from the container to save storage space when cooling is not required;
- A scroll compressor using R134a refrigerant, providing a cooling capacity of 5 kW;
- A control panel with an Eliwell PLC for temperature and humidity management;
- Anti-vibration features, a special color option, etc.
Thus, with the same performance as the initial product, our design has enabled a significant reduction in the cost price (of around -20%), going hand in hand with an improvement in production capacity (simplified assembly).
